Hair Care FAQs
I have been experimenting with colours bought from my local chemist/shop that have left my hair in a bad condition, what can I do to get back to my original colour?
Ideally you should come into the salon for a consultation so that we can see the extent of the problem. We get a lot of people in the salon that require us to re-colour their hair after using over the counter product - it is something people do without realising the possible risks. Over the counter products do not cater for the individual needs of the client. All colours done in-salon are tailored to that particular client's hair.
I love my new hair colour but it fades so quickly, how can I prevent this?
Direct sunlight will bleach coloured hair and time will cause it to fade. To help prevent this, you should use a shampoo and conditioner combination designed to stop colour fade. Our staff will be able to advise you on this. Also try washing and rinsing the hair in cool water as this helps to keep the cuticle closed and seals in the colour.
How do I prevent chlorine damage to my hair?
Always wet your hair under the shower before entering the pool so the chlorinated water sits on top of water not directly onto your hair. Always shampoo the hair immediately after swimming with a detoxifying shampoo, ask in salon for the best option for you.
I have terrible split ends; can you tell me how I can get rid of them?
The only way to get rid of split ends is to have your hair cut by a good hairdresser on a regular basis. Using salon-approved products on the hair would ensure your hair is kept in optimum condition and be careful not to over brush the hair when it is wet.
I use straighteners every day and now my hair feels dry what can I do?
Use one of our recommended shampoos and conditioners for dry hair and use Ghd Iron oil before using your straighteners to protect the hair. You would also benefit from using an intensive conditioning treatment, we would be happy to advise you on this also.
When I blow-dry my hair it always ends up huge and frizzy, what am I doing wrong?
You need moisture products. We stock a wide range of TIGI products that will help you. Another tip is not to overdry your hair and maybe try using a diffuser on your hairdryer.
I am interested in ‘hair treatments’, but I’m not sure what they are?
A treatment is basically the application of intensive conditioner that takes several steps and applications. This is the way to keep your hair in tiptop condition and lasts for approximately 6-8 weeks. We use Ghd and L’oreal conditioning treatments, and will advise you on which one would be best.
I have always had problems styling my hair, what do you suggest?
You do not have to put up with flat, dull or frizzy hair. Our staff can help you choose the right products for your hair and ensure you always have control and style.
I am at a total loss as to what to do with my hair, can you help?
Don’t panic. Make an appointment and let one of our expert stylists help you to decide what’s best for your hair. If you have cut-outs or pictures, bring them in.
